WAIKIKI BEACH You have seen my picks for the top 10 but here are some more beaches on Oahu worth mentioning! 11) Malaekahana Bay State Recreation Area
Malaekahana Bay State Recreation Area is located on the north shore this is a beautiful tropical secluded beach. Goat Island is just offshore and during low tide, you can wade over to it. Beach park has lifeguards on duty, restrooms, barbecues and picnic tables. 12) Pounders Beach Pounders Beach is located in Kailua on Laie Maloo Bay. It is a white sandy beach with great waves for surfing and lots of varieties of trees. There are portable toilets, but no lifeguards.
Kahana Bay Beach Park is located at the foot of the Kualau mountains in Kaawa. This is a serene bay with lots of trees surrounding the beach. There is picnicing and camping, but no lifeguards and no restroom. 14) Pupukea Beach Park Pupukea Beach is a marine conservation that is located on the north shore. It is a good diving beach where you can dive down and see lava tubes under the water. This is another example of one of the nicer beaches on Oahu. 15) Ehukai Beach Park (Bonzai Pipeline) Ehukai Beach Park reportedly got it name of Bonzai Pipeline because one surfer was riding a huge wave and yelled out "Bonzai!" The name stuck. This is a great beach with parking, swimming, very sandy, lifeguard on duty, picnic area, restrooms and showers. The Bonzai Pipeline is located on the north shore of Oahu and is a great beach for the experienced surfer.
16) Hauula Beach Park Hauula Beach Park is located in the town of Hauula. This is a sandy beach with grass lawns and trees. This is another great swimming beach. There is a lifeguard on duty, restrooms, picnic areas, camping, a pavillion and a volley ball court. 17) Waimea Beach Park Waimea beach Park is located on the north shore just across the street from Waimea falls. It has a picnic area but no other amenities. In the winter the waves can reach 50 feet. Wow! What a sight to see. Waimea falls across the street is also nice and has now become the home of the Audobon society. 18) Ko Olina Beach Ko olina Beach contains four lagoons, sandy beaches, shade trees, picnic areas and grassy lawns. This is another really pretty beach and is located in Ko Olina, Oahu. 19) Makaha Beach Park Makaha Beach Park is located on the west shore. Makaha means "fierce or savage". It is named for the bandits that lived around the area and terrorized the village many years ago. This beach is famous for surfing championships. It is the new home of the Big Board Surf Classic. This is a championship where the surfers ride the big boards like the original surfers did. In the winter the surf gets as high as 30 feet. This is a good snorkeling beach in the summer months because of the large variety of colorful fish. There are restrooms and a lifeguard on duty. 20) Makapuu Beach Park Makapuu Beach Park is located on the east shore on the eastern most point of the island. Makapuu is hawaiian for "bulging eyes". This beach is the most famous spot on Oahu for body surfing. Summer is great for swimming and snorkeling. The are lifeguards on duty, restrooms, barbeque pits and picnic tables. This is another great choice for a day on one of the beaches on Oahu. Although I have given you ten more beaches on Oahu, there are a lot more than what I have listed. My suggestion is to get out and discover Oahu and find your own great beach.
