OAHU FINE DINING
Oahu fine dining is fun because after playing at the beach in shorts all day it is nice to dress-up and go to a nice restaurant once or twice while on vacation. There are a lot on really nice and expensive restaurants on Oahu that offer fantastic food with a wonderful presentation and excellent service. Most of these restaurants require a long sleeve shirt and jacket for the gentlemen.
Here is a list of a few of the better restaurants:
1) LA MER
La Mer is the place to go if you really want to splurge. This is an ocean front restaurant with exquisite food. It is very expensive and you will want to dress appropriately. People don’t dress to be seen, but they dress to match the ambience and the food presentation. The restaurant is an open air restaurant with views of Diamond Head and cool trade winds blowing through the dining room. The chef is Yves Garnier who blends his classic French meals with fresh island ingredients and flavors.

2) CHEF MAVRO RESTAURANT
Chef George Mavrothalassitis is a culinary wizard from Provence who turned La Mer and The Four Seasons into great restaurants with fine dining. He decided to open his own restaurant and brought all of his award winning signature dishes with him. His menu is wonderful and his wine list is just as great. This is a really nice restaurant and the wait staff are excellent.

3) THE PINEAPPLE ROOM
Although this restaurant is in a department store, it is still Oahu fine dining at it's best and a great Alan Wong restaurant. Most of the really great dishes are made with Ahi. The restaurant uses a lot of lava rock and natural lighting. The menu changes regularly but some of the favorites always remain. One of the best dishes is the ginger scallion shrimp scampi.
